Description of Project:

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the performance of the SME sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan, in terms of contribution to GDP and job creation. The purpose of this contract is to increase the stock of qualified and competent entrepreneurs and managers (human capital) able to effectively start up and manage local SMEs and ensure their sustainable development in a long term perspective.
The Project involves a two-fold intervention: 1. Training/internships in EU companies for SME managers and a limited number of Business Support Organisations’ (BSO) experts. (Component 1) 2. Capacity building and institutional strengthening of CCI staff and experts, local BSOs and free-lance trainers and consultants in order to increase the local capacity of provision of SME management training and consultancy. (Component 2)
The expected results of the Project will therefore be: In the area of SME managers: - stronger managerial knowledge and know-how (business planning; finance, accounting, marketing, human resource management, as well as managerial/organisational aspects of design, technology and production processes), leading to better business performance in terms of companies' growth and job creation; - more diversified and sustainable business relations with larger and foreign companies (in particular EU-based prospective business partners), also sustained by a more compatible business language and culture among Uzbek and EU managers.
Concerning capacity building for the CCI, local BSOs, free-lance trainers and consultants, enhanced local capacity (knowledge, competences, attitude and institutional systems) in: - the provision of high quality management training (by receipt of training of trainers and by participation in the internships programme and/or ‘learning by doing’ during the orientation and follow-up phases of the SME internships. - organisation of exchanges and internships. |
