LARCO S.A. is the sole producer within the European Union of a 80/20 alloy that finds extensive uses in the stainless steel industry. During the initial stage of ore treatment in rotary kilns a considerable percentage of ore fines is carried away by the hot circulating air in the kilns. These fines are consequently trapped by filtering to avoid air-pollution but could not be fed back to the kilns unless they are converted to pellets of appropriate size and strength. The company wants to build a pelletizing unit of appropriate size nearby the metallurgical plant to treat the stock of fines stored and the forthcoming from the present and future operation of the metallurgical plant. The objective of the project is to collect all the data and undertake all the necessary actions needed to compile a detailed dossier to permit the financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB). |
