On September 25th, 2024, the CIRCOLIVE Info-Day took place at the Agricultural University of Athens, bringing together 48 participants, including industry experts, students, and key stakeholders in the olive sector.
The event started at 9:30 AM with participant registration, followed by a welcome speech from Professor Spyridon Kintzios, Rector of the Agricultural University of Athens. Dr. Giorgos Vardangalos from Vakakis and Associates S.A. gave an insightful presentation on the CIRCOLIVE project, focusing on the project’s objectives, partners, and key deliverables.
Ms. Ioanna Roussou, a postgraduate student, presented the National Report on cyclical practices in Greece’s olive sector, highlighting current trends, emerging technologies, and educational programmes in the circular economy. Dr. Giorgos Bekiaris discussed how olive oil by-products can be converted into value-added products through innovative bioprocesses in line with the circular economy principles.
The event concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, where participants shared ideas and engaged in valuable discussions. Feedback showed that the majority of attendees found the content very helpful, with strong interest in future CIRCOLIVE training sessions.
This Info-Day successfully achieved its goal of raising awareness of circular economy practices in the olive oil sector and promoting collaboration among stakeholders.
