Description of Project:

Alignment of the Albanian legislation to the EU social security legislation, with particular focus on equal treatment of men and women.


The project focused on the assessment of conformity of the Albanian Social Security legislation vis-à-vis the provisions of EU legislation in the area of equal treatment with reference to the following EU Directives:

  • Directive 79/7/EEC;
  • Directive 86/378/EEC;
  • Directive 86/613/EEC; and
  • Directive 92/85/EEC


Following the analysis, concrete proposals were developed in order to bring the National Legislation in line with the rules applicable in the EU. The proposals were accompanied by an assessment of the financial impact resulting from the proposed amendments.
