Description of Project:

The Project, which is implementing by the Developmental Partnership "ASPIDDA" (Developmental Partnership to Promote Equal Rights for Trafficked Persons) aims at combating discriminations suffered by victims of trafficking - in their majority migrant women - protecting and claiming for their fundamental rights and creating appropriate conditions for their social and labour integration.
Through this Project, the following specific objectives are sought:
- Claim for and protect the victims' fundamental rights
- Curtail difficulties in accessing trafficked persons
- Create conditions for the coordinated, comprehensive and effective support and empowerment of victims of trafficking, in order for them to smoothly reintegrate into society and the labour market
- Combat and prevent trafficking
- Modify attitudes and perceptions towards trafficked persons and formulate a spirit of solidarity within society
These objectives shall be achieved through the implementation of the following activities:
- Carrying out of researches
- Setting up and operation of 3 Multiple Intervention Structures for victims of trafficking
- Development of Guides and Handbooks for Mass Media and Social Operators
- Establishment and operation of a Network of Volunteers in the fight against trafficking and in support of trafficking victims
- Vocational Training for trafficking victims
- Awareness raising and information activities
- Transnational cooperation among Greece, Italy, Sweden and Latvia

Services Provided:

- Development of the internal administration mechanism of the DP "ASPIDDA"
- Development of a web site for dialogue, management of activities and for information and sensitization campaign
- Evaluation of the project
- Coordination of the transnational cooperation
- Development of a guide of best practices implemented in the cooperating countries, for supporting trafficking victims and combating of trafficking in a European Level
- Organisation of an event in Brussels for the dissemination of the results of the transnational cooperation
- Contribution to the development of an exhibition dedicated to trafficking victims, carried out by the Swedish Museum of World Culture
