Description of Project:
  • The Project aims to develop the sector of social economy in Greece, creating the proper conditions for target groups facing difficulties to their access in the labour market (migrant women, disabled people). The Project is about to promote new jobs in the field of social entrepreneurship. Among the main objectives of the Project are:
  • The promotion of legal issues (shaping of a institutional framework for the social economy in Greece)
  • The absorption of the best practice in an international level and the analysis of the way social economy enterprises are incorporated, and their interaction with the existing employment support structures (observatories etc.) and with the existing financial tools
  • The creation of pilot and viable new enterprises in the field of social economy
  • The diffusion of the success methods which will allow the continuity of the Social Support Structures which were founded under the Regional Operational Programs into social enterprises, a fact that reassures their viability, and secures the jobs of the people who work in the social economy.
  • The development and use of shaped financial tools for the support of social enterprises
  • The development of an active support structure for the social economy in Greece, an active Observatory for the social economy.
  • The diffusion of the social economy throughout Greece via a promotion campaign for the new services that the Active Observatory will provide and the publicity of the pilot enterprises.
  • The networking with all the activities in the field of social economy at a national and European level.
  • The following activities have been implemented:
    • Mapping and understanding of the best practices in the field of social economy at an international level, either in the legal framework and the financial tools level, or in the way other similar support Structures are operating.
    • Proposals synthesis, referring to Greece and the new legal interventions.
    • Preparation of a study referring to the transformation of the Social Support Structures which were funded under the Regional Operational Programs into social enterprises - Proposals of economic independence and viability
    • Organization of Entrepreneurial Forums aiming at the development of financial tools for social enterprises
    • Preparation of a study referring to the development / exploitation of the existing financial tools for the support of enterprises of the social economy sector - Development of a pilot financial tool for one social enterprise
    • Development of three social economy enterprises: a) Social security association with the participation of women and immigrants in order to take care elder people and children b)Employees association for the provision of catering and entertainment services, with a multicultural character, organized with the participation of immigrants by different countries c) Educational association which will provide relevant services to disabled in several subjects (music, painting, computers)
    • Design and pilot operation of a support structure through the Social Economy Active Observatory in order to reassure the monitoring and control, and the constant support of the social economy enterprises in the country.
    • Networking of the support structures (Active Observatory) of social economy enterprises in Greece
    • Pilot operation of a social economy support structure in Greece
    • Training actions of the Active Observatory Personnel
    • Seminars for the awareness of the public sector, social foundations, local administration

  • Development of the internal administration mechanism of the DP "SOC-ECO"
  • Development of a web site for dialogue and, management of the transnational activities
  • Coordination of the transnational cooperation among Greece, Italy and Poland
  • Consulting for the creation of a social economy enterprise: Migrant women association for the provision of catering and multicultural entertainment services
  • Development of the content and structure of the active Observatory
  • Development and adoption of technologically advanced tools for the support of social enterprises
  • Seminars for the awareness of the public sector, social foundations, local administration and key actors of social economy
