Description of Project:

The project aims at developing a Centre for the Development of Handicraft and Entrepreneurship in Yalova of the region of Marmara, Turkey, which was hit hard by the Earthquake of 1999. The Centre will operate in the context of the Municipality of Yalova and will be created with the collaboration of local cooperation NGO Yalova Local Agenda 21


Main project activities include:

  • Reduction of the unemployment rate of women and the handicapped of the region, as well as developing their entrepreneurial activity specifically in the area of handicraft.
  • The Centre will provide personalised consulting services, information towards potential funding or financing opportunities for new businesses, create a "partnership organisation" towards the production, promotion and sale of various handicraft, will implement vocational educational training for unemployed women and handicapped among others.
  • Creation of a fully equipped handicraft production workshop.
