Description of Project:

  • The project aims to build an education service for the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Kazakhstan (CFTUK) and to enhance its capacity building. The project objectives are:
  • Consolidate democratic practices and the development of civil society, through a regionally delivered national education system, for men and women, using participative student centred methods, under the democratic control of the independent unions, working through the CFTUK regional educator teams, and women educator teams.
  • Build the organisational and educational capacity of the CFTUK, extend the educator teams by increasing women educators, and establish mutually supportive links with NGO's and community groups to increase the capacity of independent voluntary association in Kazakhstan.
  • Extend the democratic role of the CFTUK in industrial and economic change by union participation in developing and delivering generic vocational training for workers, in conjunction with employers.
  • Establish, in conjunction with other partners, a Citizenship and Vocational Training Information Center to assist workers gain access to training that opens up opportunities for them in the changing civil society and labour market.

Services Provided:

  • European Profiles is the independent evaluator for the project with the following tasks:
  • Attend the full partner meetings
  • Advise the inaugural meeting on establishing the project
  • Receive reports from the Project Director
  • Liaise with the CFTUK for information
  • Write a report at the end of each year following receipt of the end of year interim report to advise Salford College and the Commission
  • Attend the final meeting in Kazakhstan
  • Provide a final evaluation report for the Commission.
