Description of Project:

Rehabilitation and enhancement of municipal capacities in disaster preparedness and management. Capacity Building and Institution building regarding:

(a) Local Psychiatric and psychological surveys, scales and public services

i) Training for local NGOs, social workers, Fire Brigades and volunteer organisations

ii) Surveying local population using various scales

iii) Development of Trauma centre

(b) Rehabilitation of Fire Brigades including procurement of equipment and supplies, training, and institution building

i) Training for fire brigades, municipality officials, volunteer organisations, emergency management team, etc.

ii) Procurement of equipment and supplies

iii) Institution building regarding administrative cooperation during disasters and disaster management plans

(c) Local building codes, by-laws, and approximation with EU standards, training for inspectors

(d) Digital Mapping structures and development of a GIS system, training for local municipality officials

(e) Public Awareness raising regarding earthquakes and the above four topics and general awareness campaigns

  • Increasing technical capacity through training activities
  • Development of a web site and an e-learning system for dialogue and management of activities
  • Rescue and emergency structures/services development
  • Psychological and health support to mental health services
  • Preparation and dissemination of strategies and materials reducing earthquake risk
  • Management and disaster preparedness in the municipality, of information, public awareness campaign, preparing training modules and new procedures for municipality personnel
  • procurement of equipment and supplies.
