Description of Project:

The project consists of the development of three Annual Reports for the years 2006, 2007, 2008 which review the «Situation and Perspectives of the SMEs in Greece».

Each Annual Report comprises of 2 parts: Part A (which includes eight (8) sections) and Part B (which includes two (2) sections:

Part Α':

• Section Α: Current Situation and trends in the SME sector;

• Section Β: Contribution of the SMEs in the national economy;

• Section C: Problems and Challenges facing SMEs;

• Section D: National policy measures taken for SMEs support;

• Section E: Trends in the SMEs sector in National, European and International Level^. Opportunities and Perspectives;

• Section F: The new guidelines of the European policy for SMEs support;

• Section G: Necessary adjustments for SMEs under the new business development;

• Section: Policy advice for SMEs support.

• Section Α : SMEs' Support Organizations

• Section Β: Openness and Internationalization of SMEs

In order for the Reports to be developed, the Consultant undertook the following tasks:

• collection and elaboration of secondary data,
• "in depth" personal interviews with representatives of SMEs Support Organizations, and
• quantitative research in selected sample of SMEs in national level.

• Desk research and statistical elaboration of data regarding SMEs characteristics
• Elaboration and statistical analysis of data from field research
• Policy advice on SMEs support and development
• Study of specialised issues regarding small and medium enterprises in Greece and at a European level
• Study of SMEs sector in National, European and International Level
