Description of Project:

The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacities and knowledge of the Members of the Moldovan Parliament in the framework of a modern Parliamentary Democracy. The project objectives are:

• The reform of the state structures and operation of a modern Parliamentary Democracy.
• The promotion of the co-operation of the Moldovan Parliament with the civil society.
• The promotion of the transparency of administration.
• The promotion of the participation of the population in decision making procedures, and especially the equal participation of men and women, in the economic and political life.

Main activities include:

• The study and identification of the needs of the Moldovan Parliament.
• The provision of consulting and support to the Parliament on issues concerning the alignment and accession to the EU, the European Neighbourhood Policy and the relevant bilateral Action Plan, and other sectoral issues.
• The provision of training to 20 members of the Parliament on the function and the role of the modern democratic Parliament.
• The organisation of study visit to Greece.
• The organisation of sensitisation and information campaign about the role and function of the Moldovan Parliament, targeting NGOs, mass media and the wider public.
