Description of Project:
|
Project "Accessibility for All" implemented under the European Territorial Programme Bulgaria - Greece 2007-2013 (INTERREG) and funded by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund - ERDF) and national sources of Greece and Bulgaria.
The main objective of the project is to promote "Accessibility" in the public sector and particularly to local and regional authorities. The term "Accessibility" means the characteristic of an environment that allows all citizens without discrimination based on sex, age and other characteristics (physique, strength, perception, etc.) the safe and independent use and access of facilities offered, services (conventional and electronic) and property. Accessibility is closely related to people with disabilities as it affects their daily lives.
The project aims at providing an integrated approach to promote the Principle of "Accessibility" in public administration in the cross border area Greece - Bulgaria.
Beneficiaries of the project is primarily people with disabilities in the border area of the program and then the government and regional authorities in adopting policies to promote Accessibility and improve the lives of people with disabilities.

Services Provided: |
In brief, the project entails:
Project deliverables will be translated into 3 languages - English, Greek, Bulgarian - and fully digitalized (making accessible) for people with disabilities by creating alternative files (Braille, DVD with audio and sign language), while the accessible portal will be developed at the highest level of compliance for accessibility (Level AAA).
The project embodies the principle of Αccessibility for disabled people, which has now become a prerequisite for the member states in order to receive EU funding. All project results will be made accessible to persons with disability. Therefore, the interventions of the project should adopt the principle of "Design for All", by incorporating terms and accessibility conditions in ICT for persons with disability, based on internationally recognized standards, the W3C's accessibility guidelines, and specifically in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WAI / WCAG). |
